Biography

Val Gottesman is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. At a young age she became dedicated to art, finding inspiration from her varied interests and love for the natural world. Her work spans the range of subject matter from landscapes, still life and equestrian activities. 

  

Val began studying art at the Cincinnati Art Academy. Her travels in Europe, Scandinavia and United States and studying the art of Old Masters in many museums has provided her with invaluable knowledge and fostered a greater devotion to her art. Her paintings are in many private collections throughout the United States and abroad. 

  

Gottesman is an associate member of Oil Painters of America. She has been a featured artist in the Great American Artists Exhibition. She has participated in several fund-raising events including Starshine of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Chatfield College and Kids Helping Kids. Gottesman was commissioned by “Fun Publishing Co.” to illustrate the books “September11, 2001” and Iraq, 2003.” 

  

In addition to painting, Gottesman was active in the equestrian community; showing, training and teaching in equine hunter/jumper divisions.
